Texas Gov. Abbott is asking the government to return the $11b spent on border security

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott requests that the Federal Government return to his State more than $11.1 billion in tax dollars that were used to straighten the southern border during the administration of President Joe Biden.

Abbott, who sent letters to US lawmakers on Thursday, said the Biden Administration’s “refused to do its job for the last four years” led to the crisis on the southern border.

“The policies of President BEDEN leave Texas and America unprotected against the unprecedented intervention of violent criminals, known terrorists, and other dangerous characters of the Venezuelan Gang Tren de Aragua,” wrote the Venezuelan actor.

In response to the lack of federal government on the border, Abbott took matters into his own hands and launched Operation Lone Star in March 2021, which sent the Texas Department of Civil Defense and Texas to the Texas border.

Operation Lone Star has reduced illegal immigration to Texas by 87% over the past four years, which means “the success of President Donald Trump, who added that his efforts have changed that his efforts have slipped into the national mold of the crisis.

“In short, Texas stepped up when the Federal Government refused and in doing so, protected all Americans from the President’s dangerous policies,” Abbott wrote.

“The burden our State has sustained is a direct result of the federal government’s refusal to do its job,” Abbott wrote. “The work you’ve done in Texas with Operation Lone Star has protected and will continue to benefit the entire state.”

House Republicans have introduced bills in the past calling for the return of billions spent on border security, but the legislation has never passed.
