“All the answers will be revealed,” Chestnut, 32, said exclusively Us Weekly while promoting his holiday film OWN, Mistletoe & Matrimonywhich premiered on December 14.
Actress, who plays the role of Dr. Naomi Howard Chicago Mednoted that viewers will definitely find out what happened to Goodwin (S. Epata Merkerson) during the program on Wednesday, January 8, return.
During the midseason finale, which aired on November 20, Goodwin found out who was after him when he was stopped by her in the office. During the argument, Goodwin was stabbed and started bleeding. However, he made a last effort to be free after hearing Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) outside his office door.
As the elevator door began to close, Archer saw a bloodied Goodwin exit the room and scream for help as the attacker came up behind him. The episode ended with Archer trying to go back to help his longtime friend and boss.
“When I read it, I was like, ‘Oh, what’s going to happen?'” Chestnut recalled. Us of learning about Goodwin’s painful moments in the episode. “I’m on the edge of my seat asking for advanced copies of the script and they’re like, ‘No.’”
Even though Chestnut didn’t see the scripts ahead of time, he said Us they were already shooting episode 14, so you know what’s going on. “All the answers will be revealed soon,” he emphasized.
The TV star also teased, “She looks a lot like Naomi. I’m trying to be vague, but there’s a lot to Naomi.”
Chestnut teased how Naomi might be involved in Goodwin’s story but explained that her character will get more screen time in the second half of the season. (Chestnut joined as student doctor Naomi at the end of season 9 and has become a recurring character.)
“I can play [that] there will be real drama that Naomi is involved with other actors besides dr. Archer and Dr. Lenox (Sarah Ramos),” he said. “Those are Naomi’s, the boys, who go to the people, [but] there will be drama without these two.”
Since joining the ED, Naomi has worked closely with Archer and Lenox, who split the duties of running the emergency department until the end of the season. At that time, Goodwin appointed Lenox (who had just been hired this year) as sole leader.
The personnel change is what led Archer to come to Goodwin’s office during the November episode as he planned to resign.
Naomi, meanwhile, has been sandwiched between Lenox and Archer all season as they butt heads over how to successfully run the ED. According to Chestnut, that push and pull won’t completely end when the show returns.
“I’m between Lenox and Dr. Archer [still]. There is a little bit of that,” he said. “And you will see another relationship between Dr. Lenox and Naomi.”
Season 10 of Chicago Med returns to NBC on Wednesday, January 8, at 8 pm ET.
