Bengals’ Chase Brown outraged by penalty for jumping into Salvation Army kettle: ‘It’s bad’
Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown scored a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium two weeks ago and celebrated like any NFL athlete – he jumped into a kettle for The Salvation Army.
Brown’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Joe Burrow put the Bengals up 14-10 in the second quarter. Cincinnati beat Dallas 27-20 thanks to Burrow’s touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase with about a minute left in the game.

Earlier this week, Brown learned the hard way about the consequences of his celebration, even if it drew the attention of the Salvation Army – which has worked with the Cowboys for more than three decades on various projects. He was fined $5,000.
“I call it tomorrow,” he said on The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast on Tuesday. “I’d rather cut it in half, and then we just give it to The Salvation Army. They stand (kettles) in every corner (of the stadium), four like bait. That animal, we get it. Set.”

The Bengals selected Brown in the fifth round of the 2023 draft. He has planted his flag as the team’s best running back this season.
Brown, in 14 games, has 832 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns and 47 catches for 318 yards and four touchdown catches.
This is not the first time the NFL has issued fines for a Salvation Army stunt.
