Tennessee agencies team up to rescue injured dog from canyon: video
A dog that went missing in Tennessee will be reunited with its family after being found injured in a canyon on Wednesday.
A crew from the Tennessee Department of Transportation was clearing a tree in the 2400 block of State Route 48 in the town of Dickson when they “heard a noise coming from a nearby creek,” the agency said on Facebook.
When they went to investigate the noise, crews found an injured dog stuck in a ravine, prompting them to alert the nearby Tennessee Highway Patrol, who was working on the road assignment, for help.

A TDOT crew, the trooper, Dickson Electric employees and a private citizen came together to rescue the puppy.
They built a makeshift gurney to get him out of the canyon safely and took him to the Humane Society of Dickson County (HSDC) for treatment of his injuries.

A TDOT worker returned to the shelter a few hours later to hand out a pallet of dog food, according to HSDC.
“We have been told that the dog is being treated, and we hope for a speedy recovery,” TDOT said on Facebook. “We thank those workers who were willing and able to answer the call for help.”
The Tennessee Highway Patrol posted bodycam video of the dog’s rescue on Facebook Wednesday, calling it “Trooper,” and asked for help finding its family.
Through the power of social media, the dog — named Apollo — was identified, and his owner contacted DCHS, the shelter said Wednesday night.
