Liberal Supreme Court Justice performs Common ‘cringe’ on Broadway

Liberty Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is getting mixed reviews after her stunning performance as “Queen Mab” in the Broadway musical “&Juliet.”

While some social media users called Jackson’s performance “humane,” others called it “frustrating,” “embarrassing” and unbecoming of a sitting member of the nation’s highest court.

Written by contemporary playwright David West Read, “& Juliet” is a modern retelling of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” that explores another scenario where Juliet does not kill herself and instead explores life as an independent young woman. The musical features a character named May, who is Juliet’s best friend and who identifies as non-binary.

Jackson joined the cast, including TikTok star Charli D’Amelio and other Broadway stars, for a one-off performance at New York’s Stephen Sondheim Theater on Saturday night, becoming the first-ever Supreme Court justice to perform on Broadway.

She was wearing jeans and a blue dress with a corset and a flowered hat. In one clip, her character happily exclaims, “Feminine empowerment, sick!,” and in another, she sings the Backstreet Boys’ “Show Me Meaning of Being Lonely.”

The marketing team for “&Juliet” said in an Instagram post announcing that Jackson’s performance fulfilled a lifelong dream of “becoming the first black, female Supreme Court justice to appear on the Broadway stage.”

However, his decision to enter the stage was not well received by many members of the public.

Conservative activist Arynne Wexler responded to X, saying, “Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson didn’t just appear in a Broadway show. The show is a ‘queer musical knockoff’ of Romeo and Juliet. Yes Max cringe, max DEI.”

“This is a SCOTUS Justice sitting. Life time,” replied the account of conservative influencer Gunther Eagleman. “I’m speechless.”

Conservative commentator Liz Wheeler said “Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is starring in the Broadway show ‘& Juliet’ which is a ‘queen’ version of Romeo & Juliet … So no, when Ketanji Brown Jackson refuses to explain that ‘ what a woman’ during his Senate confirmation hearing, he was not a brilliant legal mind, and he is an avid DEI recruiter who broadcasts dangerous, Neo-Marxist, anti-woman transgender ideology.”

“I’d rather our country be run by weird theater kids,” replied campaigner Colin Rugg.

“This is very embarrassing,” wrote LibsofTikTok.

At the time, Elon Musk jokingly suggested that Jackson “should sing his decisions.”

Jackson’s performance was not universally laughed at. Former New York Congressman George Santos responded, “I love this! Humanizing a part of government that has never been humanized! Good for this relationship!”

Former Kamala Harris campaign reporter Victor Shi called the show “the most amazing video I’ve seen in a long time.”

“Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson played on Broadway, and some of his Republican colleagues would spend this time flying with billionaires,” he continued. “Cool. Very refreshing. Justice Jackson is the best.”

Jackson has been a consistent liberal vote on the Supreme Court since being nominated by President Biden in 2022.
