Lady A’s Hillary Scott Shares Her Kids’ ‘Gifts of Music’

Lady A’s Hillary Scott she can’t believe how talented her daughters are when it comes to music.

“All three of my girls, they have musical gifts,” Scott, 38, said to himself Us Weekly when he celebrated his new holiday single “Hard to Wait for Christmas” featuring his 11-year-old daughter, Eisele Kaye. It’s interesting that they all express it differently.

Although her twins Betsy and Emory may only be six years old, they are already showing signs of musical talent.

“Emory will get songs in his head, and he’ll ask me, ‘Can we go around the corner and record this musical moment? I want to record it so I can remember it,’” Scott recalled. “Betsy likes to dance. … They also like very different music.”

As the oldest child, Eisele has had many opportunities to visit with Scott and Lady A over the years. He helped her prepare for the opportunity to sing “Hard to Wait for Christmas” at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry for an Opry Country Christmas on December 5.

“He’s in his musical theater era right now,” Scott said before the special. “We are listening Hamilton soundtrack several times a week. We are about to see it in New York. This is kind of an early Christmas present for you this year.”

This holiday season, Scott and Eisele hope to make the season bloom with a special holiday song. Titled “It’s Hard to Wait for Christmas,” the track aims to ignite the Christmas spirit of all ages and brings to mind the many things that make the holiday season so special.

“We hope that this song will allow us a moment — even if it’s only 3 and a half minutes — where families can smile and laugh and play together,” Scott said. “If I had a wish for Christmas, it would be this. When this song is played, I hope that whoever goes with it will giggle and be happy and it plays in what can be a very difficult season at times.”

As Scott continues to receive positive responses to the song, she remains grateful for the support of her husband, Chris Tyrrell.

And he keeps faith in his family’s “compass” as he navigates the highs and lows of life throughout the year.

“We wake up on Christmas morning, and the first thing we do is read Luke 2 [scripture],” Scott said. “Of all the gifts we receive, in our family, the greatest gift was the miracle that was born at Christmas. We always pause and make sure that this is where we start each day and actually in the spirit of love and being a light in the world and we hope that what we instill in our children is to be that light to others. “
