Josh Allen Was Crying Before Hailee Steinfeld’s Proposal, Talking Babies

The Buffalo Bills quarterback proposed to Steinfeld, 27, during his NFL team’s farewell week on Nov. 22. He popped the question at sunset while standing under a rose-covered walkway overlooking the water.
“I said, ‘I can’t wait any longer.’ I said, ‘I want to start a family with you,'” Allen recalled. “I said your full name, I asked you very well. I said please.”

Steinfeld, of course, said “yes” and they closed the moment with a kiss — a moment that left the NFL athlete feeling “relieved,” especially since no one was surprised.
“He was very surprised, he agreed, and that’s all that mattered to me. And the sun was out,” said Allen. “It feels unbelievable to be engaged to someone so special and loving and caring and beautiful and fun and happy.”
Allen was concerned that Steinfeld had received his proposal hours in advance.
“We woke up preparing dinner and you jumped on the bed and said, ‘Can we get married already?!? What are you waiting for??!'” he recalled. “I replied, ‘Give me more time.’ You didn’t know I was going to propose to you.”

Allen and Steinfeld have been together since 2023. Her Friday newsletter — dated the 17th, featuring her now-fiancé’s Bills jersey number — was the first since they got engaged.
“I’m engaged!! All the tears of joy have just dried up,” Steinfeld wrote in the magazine’s introduction. Whenever we tell a story, I look back at the pictures, or even say, ‘We’re engaged’ or ‘We’re getting married,’ I just cry.”
He added, “While I look forward to telling you more about the day and the things we are planning, I am not ready yet. I have to hold this for a while longer.”
According to Steinfeld, Allen’s proposal was “the most magical day ever [her] life.”
Elsewhere in his ‘boyfriend Q&A,’ Steinfeld asked Allen to come up with an acronym for his first name. He chose “Hot, Angelic, Irresistible, Loving, Powerful and Eternal Lover.”
