Baker Mayfield is suing his father, claiming he stole $12 million from him
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, Baker Mayfield, has filed a lawsuit against his father seeking $12 million due to a contract dispute with his father’s company.
Mayfield accused his father’s company, Canwood Capital, of transferring the money to Mayfield and his wife “without authorization” from 2018 to 2021.
According to the lawsuit, the two sides reached an agreement in January in which Mayfield’s father, James, will pay almost all of the money, but Mayfield says he has not received it.

The first payment of $250,000 was due Sept. 30, but Mayfield never received it, the suit says.
“When the plaintiffs began to expose the misconduct of the defendants and sought answers to explain the confiscation of their property, the defendants attempted to conceal relevant information, evaded the plaintiffs’ questions, and invented fictitious explanations for their actions…” the lawsuit reads.
“It is now clear that Defendants had no intention of making Plaintiffs whole when they entered into the Settlement Agreement. To date, Canwood Capital has not paid a single dollar under the Settlement Agreement, Defendants have failed to repay their loans, and Plaintiffs have not been granted access to their books and records… In other words, Defendants they have not fulfilled any of their obligations and have refused to even respond to the plaintiffs’ communication regarding this violation of the law.”

The Mayfields say they have “no choice” but to file the new lawsuit – which is nine pages long and files in the US District Court for the Austin Division of the Western District of Texas.
Fox News Digital has reached out to James Mayfield’s company for comment.
Mayfield is in his second season with the Buckeyes, opting out of a one-year deal last year to earn himself a three-year, $100 million deal.
