A travel hacker has taken the internet by storm with social media users discussing the dangerous trick.
“Check-in chicken” consists of flyers who wait until close to check-in until you reserve a seat.
It’s a gamble that the most desirable remaining seats, such as extra legroom or an exit row, will be offered.

One travel influencer who promotes cheap travel hacks posted on TikTok his experience with airlines regarding “check-in chicken.”

“They are giving away seats in the middle or back of the plane in hopes that you will pay to change your seat,” the user said in his video.
He says, “If you sit tight and wait, you’ll see that they all start to leave, and all that’s left are the extra legroom seats and the ones in the front of the plane.”
Also known as “check-in-chicken,” is text added to the video.
