Kate Middleton Invites Survivors of Southport Attack to Carol Service

Princess Kate Middleton made some thoughtful additions to the guest list for his annual Christmas carol service.

The Princess of Wales, 42, has invited families and survivors of a fatal stabbing in Southport, England, to her Christmas carol service, according to reports. The annual event is expected to take place on December 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.

In July, three children were killed ea Taylor Swift-Themed yoga and dance class. Another 10 people, eight of whom are children, were injured in the stabbing incident. The suspect, who was 17 years old at the time of the incident, was arrested at the scene and charged with three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife.

Kate and her husband, Prince Williamthey issued a statement expressing their condolences after the attack. “As parents, we can’t begin to imagine what the families, friends and loved ones of those who died and were injured in Southport today are going through,” they shared in July. “We are sending our love, thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this terrible and terrible attack.”

Earlier this month, the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales shared ideas for invitations printed at Kate’s Together at Christmas Carol Service. “Something exciting is coming… 🎄🎵,” reads the caption of the video, which shows stationery emblazoned with Kate’s royal monogram.

Kate has hosted her holiday service for several years, but the celebration will be even more meaningful after her difficult year. Kate announced in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer after a planned stomach operation two months earlier. He took a step back from his public-spirited work during his recovery, revealing in September that he had completed chemotherapy.

“The past nine months have been very difficult for us as a family,” he said in a statement at the time. “You know life can change in an instant and we had to find a way to navigate through stormy waters and an unknown road. … This time above all reminded me and William to reflect and be thankful for the simple but important things in life, which many of us tend to take for granted. Just by loving and being loved.”

Kate noted that she has a “long road to healing and a full recovery,” adding that she is “looking forward to getting back to work and doing a few more public speaking engagements in the coming months when I can.” He also thanked his supporters for their “kindness, sympathy and compassion” throughout his health battle.

“To all those who continue their cancer journey – I stay with you, together, we hold each other. In the darkness, light can appear, so let that light shine brightly,” he concluded.

Kate released herself back into the royal fold, attending the Remembrance Day on November 9 and the Sunday memorial service at the Cenotaph on November 10. The Times published this month, William, 42, revealed that his wife – with whom she shares Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6 – will return to action when she feels ready.

“I think, hopefully, Catherine will be doing more next year,” she said. “So, we’ll have another trip maybe planned.”
