Keira Knightley Gives Unusual Insights into Marriage to James Righton

Keira Knightley she shares a rare insight into life as a wife and mother.

I Black Pigeons star, 39, is married to a British singer James Righton since 2013. The couple have two daughters, Edie, 9, and Delilah, 5.

“It’s good for an actor and a singer, isn’t it?” Knightley said about his 11-year union in an interview The Times of London published on Saturday, November 23. “We really annoy each other. But, f—, are we laughing.”

According to Knightley, her husband is a bit of a temper tantrum, and struggles to come out of his shell at Hollywood and fashion industry events.

“When James comes, they are happy. “James believes that it is his right to have fun and he will create wherever he goes,” said the actor. “Unless I’m really drunk, and you can’t be there when you’re at those events, I find it very intense and very difficult. James can break the law of people, and I can’t do that.”

Since having children, Knightley said she is more selective about her film and television choices as she wants to be with her two daughters.

“I couldn’t go to work [abroad] now. It wouldn’t be fair to them somehow, and I don’t want to,” she said Pirates of the Caribbean said the star. “I chose to have children, I want to raise them, so I had to take a big step back.”

His children are one of the reasons why he won’t sign up for another big franchise like Disney’s Pirates series.

“The hours are crazy. Years of your life, you can’t control where you record, how long you record, what you record,” he said.

The Oscar nominee also revealed that her daughters are not that fond of her acting career. Knightley noted that Edie recently saw Emma Watson in the middle Greta Gerwig‘s Little Women and it was, according to Times“unpleasant” to see Harry Potter an actor in a different role.

“He said that the actors should not act [multiple] other characters. “Well, we wouldn’t live in this house, dear,” Knightley sneered.

In August, Knightley opened up about a special feature she shared with one of her two daughters.

While talking about how she found learning to see “really hard” with dyslexia on the Aug. 5 episode of the “Ruthie’s Table 4” podcast, Knightley noted that she and her husband “have a child with dyslexia.”

“It really bounces. But I listen to you. I actually record it and listen to it and listen to it again and read it that way,” he said.

“He does the same thing,” Knightley continued of his child. “It’s really amazing.” Righton, 40, chimed in, adding, “He’s going to check the books. You will memorize the book, in fact. It’s amazing.”

In the podcast, Knightley credited her dyslexia diagnosis with helping her become an actress. “The school said, ‘Look, he can’t read at all, and we need a carrot to dangle in front of him. Do you know what he wants?’” he said. “And again [my parents] he said, ‘Well, you want an agent.'”

Knightley continued: “It was always, ‘If you study, if your grades go up, you’re allowed to continue acting. But when they go down, it stops.’ It went up though. It was a carrot!”
