A 73-year-old NYC man has died after climbing out of a window to escape an attack at his home
An elderly New York City man fell to his death after jumping out of a window to escape a weekend home invasion.
The incident happened in Washington Heights near 161st Street and Broadway around 4:40 a.m. Saturday when three burglars broke into an apartment. One suspect escaped and climbed out a window before letting the other two in, according to the New York Post and NBC 4.
The robbers arrested a 40-year-old man before stealing an $8,000 gold chain and about $200 in cash, New York City police said, according to reports.

During the burglary, the man’s father, Jacinto Remigo, 73, fell from a sixth-floor window onto construction scaffolding, police told NBC 4.
Remigo was taken to Harlem Hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Police are continuing to investigate how he fell from the flat.
A neighbor and friend of the victim, Heriberto Garcia, told NBC 4 that he saw Remigo climb out of the window and fall after reaching a small ledge to reach another window and was stopped by the air conditioner.
