More than 100 Palestinians killed in Israeli attack on Gaza in 48 hours | Israel-Palestine Conflicts News

The hospital director Kamal Adwan says that a number of workers were injured in the bombings in Israel.

At least 120 people have been killed in Israel’s attacks on Gaza in two days, Palestinian health officials said, as Israel intensified its bombardment of the besieged enclave.

At least seven people were killed when a house was hit in the Zeitoun area of Gaza City, health officials said on Saturday. Other deaths were recorded in central and southern Gaza.

Israeli airstrikes caused extensive damage to the al-Faruq Mosque in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, according to a social media video verified by Al Jazeera.

The Israeli army has also intensified its attacks and bombardment in northern Gaza, where one of the least functioning hospitals was hit, injuring several workers.

Hussam Abu Safia, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, in a statement on Saturday said that Israeli forces “directly targeted the entrance to the emergency and reception area several times, as well as the hospital grounds, electricity generators, and hospital gates”.

The bombings “caused 12 injuries among doctors, nurses, and workers working in emergency areas and reception areas”, he said.

The Israeli military denied the allegations and said it was “not aware of the strike in the Kamal Adwan hospital area” following an initial review of the situation.

On Friday, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said hospitals had about two days of fuel left before they began restricting services.

Israeli forces have been besieging and relaunching attacks on northern Gaza for the past month, saying they aim to prevent Hamas from continuing its offensive and regrouping in the area.

The United Nations warned earlier this week that almost no aid had been delivered to northern Gaza since Israel’s renewed war as aid agencies and food security experts warned of famine in the area.

In a meeting with Defense Minister Israel Katz on Saturday, United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin pressed Israel to “take steps to improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza”, the Pentagon said.

Israel’s offensive in Gaza has killed more than 44,000 people and injured more than 104,000 since October 2023, according to Palestinian health officials.

Israel launched its attack on Gaza after a Hamas-led attack in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which at least 1,139 people were killed and around 250 others were taken hostage.

The spokesman for the armed wing of Hamas, Abu Ubaida, said that later on Saturday, an Israeli woman arrested by the group was killed in northern Gaza in an area attacked by Israeli forces.

“The life of another female prisoner he had is at risk,” he added, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of being culpable and undermining efforts to end the war.
