Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi reportedly fled the US amid Trump’s victory
Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are reportedly happy in America following President Donald Trump’s victory earlier this month.
The popular comedian, who is known for his strong position in selling real estate, is suspected to have settled in the Cotswolds in England, a person close to the TV actor told The Wrap. He and de Rossi previously listed their multi-million dollar home in Montecito, California, with Riskin Partners.
Fox News Digital confirmed that their home was sold in August.

A DeGeneres source told the media that Trump’s re-election spurred the couple’s decision to jump ship. DeGeneres announced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris in September by retweeting an endorsement of Taylor Swift on Instagram. He simply added, “This childless cat lady couldn’t agree more,” said Vice President-Elect JD Vance.
DeGeneres previously announced that she was “fired from the business” in her Netflix special, “For Your Approval,” which aired on September 24. Reports of a toxic workplace on her talk show in 2020 prompted Warner Bros. internal investigation. DeGeneres eventually apologized, but the damage was done.
Representatives for DeGeneres and Rossi did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
DeGeneres’ reported move follows empty threats from other A-listers, including Cher, Sharon Stone and Barbra Streisand, who have threatened to leave the United States if Trump wins again. Speaking to The Guardian in 2023, Cher said she “almost had a wound the last time” Trump nearly gained power. “If he enters, who knows? In this case, I will go [the country].”

Earlier this summer, Stone said Daily Mail that he was toying with the idea of moving to Europe. “I’m definitely thinking about a house in Italy,” he said in July. “I think that’s smart construction at this point. This is one of the first times in my life that I’ve seen anyone run for office in an environment of hatred and oppression.”

In November 2023, Streisand said she could not deal with a Trump presidency. “I’m going to move. I won’t be able to live in this country if he becomes president,” he announced on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, noting that England might be his place to live.
In recent weeks, actress Eva Longoria made waves by discussing her “concerns” about Americans who would have to stay in the country under the Trump administration. “I like to think that our fight continues,” he said Marie Claire in an interview days after the election was called. He noted that he thinks the country is “a scary place,” adding, “If he keeps his promises, it will be a scary place.”
