Bill Maher criticizes liberals for defending women’s sports coverage, praises Seth Moulton

HBO’s late-night host Bill Maher has been one of the most vocal critics within the Democratic Party since Vice President Harris’s landslide election loss to Donald Trump. In her latest episode, Maher focuses on those in her group who are still looking to protect inclusion in women’s sports.

“Stop yelling at people to join the program and instead make a program that will be appropriate,” continued Maher. “What’s the point of being free if you don’t win the election?”

Maher pointed to a recent situation in Massachusetts, where Rep. Seth Moulton received strong criticism from those in his own party for speaking out against the left’s stance on trans athletes in a New York Times article.

“I have two little girls. I don’t want them to be run over on the playground by a man or a former male athlete, but as a Democrat I should be afraid to say that,” Moulton said in the clip.

After the announcement, Moulton’s campaign manager and director of his political committee “Serve America” Matt Chilliak reportedly stepped down, according to The Boston Globe.

Maher believes Moulton will be right to let Chilliak go amid Democrats’ thinking about inclusion.

“Congressman Moulton sounds great to me, but his campaign manager resigned in protest, let me make this clear to smart people, the campaign manager who resigned, yes, let that person go. Let that guy go,” Maher said. .

Maher even advocated that it is time to “make it a culpable offense.”

Moulton is not alone as a Democrat in wanting to back away from support for transgender rights, and specifically the inclusion of trans athletes. His stance points to the growing division in the party that Maher has now acknowledged, as the issue has become more vulnerable and more surprising in its recent election failure.

Trump and other Republicans have blasted Harris’s opponents and the Democratic Alliance over the issue in the weeks leading up to the election. In response, Democrats did not have a clear consensus on the answer. Many Democrats who have signed bills supporting the reforms in the past had to publicly withdraw their support before the election. This includes Texas Rep. Colin Allred, Texas Rep. Vicente Gonzalez and Alaska Rep. Mary Peltola.

Meanwhile, Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown was forced to respond when he was linked to this issue saying that he does not agree with the acceptance of natural men in women’s sports.

Still, many on the left have been vocal about defending trans inclusion. This includes one of Maher’s HBO colleagues. The host of “Last Week Tonight” John Oliver recently launched a provocative speech against those who spoke against the inclusion of one of his episodes. Oliver criticized the Harris campaign for not being more vocal in defending inclusion, and disputed unsubstantiated claims that natural male athletes have no advantage over natural women.

“The Harris campaign has failed to respond, especially when it’s so easy to do,” Oliver said. “Few trans girls compete in high schools anywhere, even if there are many, trans kids like all kids vary in athletic ability, and there is no evidence that it compromises safety or fairness.”

The Biden-Harris administration issued sweeping legislation in April that clarified that Title IX’s ban on “sex” discrimination in schools includes discrimination based on gender identity, sexuality and “pregnancy or related conditions.” And while the administration insists that the regulation does not consider the fitness of the sport, many experts testify to Fox News Digital in June that it would finally put more natural men in women’s sports.

Bills such as the Equality Act and the Transgender Bill of Rights have been proposed and sponsored by Democrats, which would help transgender people be included in women’s sports at the national level.

Meanwhile, President-elect Trump has proposed banning transgender people from sports for women and girls.

In June, research conducted by NORC at the University of Chicago asked respondents to examine whether transgender athletes should be allowed to participate in sports leagues that align with their preferred gender identity rather than their natural sex.

Sixty-five percent responded that it should not or rarely be allowed. When respondents were asked directly about older transgender athletes competing on women’s sports teams, 69% opposed it.

I United nations has released the results of a study that says that almost 900 natural women have been denied medals in sports because they lost to transgender players.

The study, titled “Violence against women and girls in sports,” said more than 600 athletes did not receive medals in more than 400 competitions in 29 different competitions, totaling more than 890 medals, according to information received up to March 30.

“The change in the category of women’s sports to a mixed gender one has caused an increase in the number of female athletes who lose the opportunity to win medals when they compete with men,” said the report.
