Tyrrell Hatton swung a club twice and was lashed out after his shot at the World Tour Championship in Dubai on Saturday, his behavior leading to the English golfer’s hottest European tour fine and a reprimand from the publicist for setting a “bad” example.
18th-ranked Hatton’s unhappiness with his performance in Dubai this week boiled over during the third round of the season-ending tournament at the Earth Course.
It started embarrassingly when he lazily tried to tee off to reach the fourth hole only for the ball to hit the back of the cup and go off the lip and ended when he dropped his ball into the water guarding the green. No. 18 after completing his round.
Among those incidents, the most painful example of Hatton’s bad behavior came on No. 14 when he pulled his par-5 third shot and pressed his iron so hard into the ground that it broke.

Earlier, Hatton angrily swiped at a divot after missing the green on his way to No. 8. His behavior became more erratic on the 11th when, after missing a five-foot birdie putt, he hit his putter on the green. and repeatedly swear at comments taken from television.

After the round, the European tour confirmed that Hatton’s behavior had broken his moral code.
“You will be fined for that,” said the tour.
Hatton started the third round shooting in the lead and finished behind the three joint leaders Rory McIlroy, Rasmus Hojgaard and Antoine Rozner.
Hatton, 33, who won championships on both sides of the Atlantic and is a three-time Ryder Cup player, joined the LIV Golf Series earlier this year but still plays events on the European Tour.
Known as one of golf’s most fiery players, he can often be heard talking to himself after a shot.
On Friday, while playing No. 18 on the Earth Course, Hatton was heard saying: “I despise everything about this hole.”
