Bateman, best known for playing Mallory Keaton on the hit 1980s sitcom “Family Ties,” has recently gone viral for referring to the past four years as a “very un-American era” for free speech and that only “permissive positions” were accepted. with the available power.

“My belief is that everyone should be free to live their life the way they want to live it. But not to interfere with someone else’s ability to live as freely as they want to live,” Bateman told Fox News Digital.

“So, what was un-American four or so years ago was that one couldn’t even ask a question about something. One couldn’t even engage in a debate about things like women in sports, about trans women … women’s locker rooms or bathrooms or prisons and not allowing the public to freely engage about the benefits and risks of these types of decisions, I think that’s un-American and shut up or we’re going to destroy your career or we’re going to destroy you in society,’ ” he added.
