‘Danger!’ fans were left angry and confused after the manager accepted the wrong answer
“Danger!” fans were left angry and confused on Wednesday after the game received a technically incorrect response to the final clue.
The final Jeopardy clue reads: “It’s a place name in the title of a Robert Burns poem about “mountains … covered with snow … streaks and valleys green below.”
Contestant Evan Dorey wrote “Highland,” and host Ken Jennings accepted the answer. “The name ‘My Heart’s In The Highlands’ is the name of a poem,” Jennings explained.
However, Dorey’s answer does not have the “am” at the end which confused the fans.

“I’m confused,” one user wrote on Reddit. “If an FJ contestant gives a single word even though the correct subject is plural, it’s accepted. But if they write that singular and start adding us when time runs out, right?”
“I’m not a little confused about that,” replied another. “I thought that if the answer is the word in the article, the answer needs to be the word in the article, not a version of it.”
One user gave his interpretation of Wednesday’s “Jeopardy”! reign, leaving Dorey as the champion of the game:
“My interpretation of this decision is: If the clue wanted a complete subject and wrote ‘My Heart Is Highland’, that would be wrong. But since they want a word rather than a complete subject, they will take singular. or plural.”

Some Reddit users and fans commented that the decision to use the same name instead of the correct name was “crazy.”
“Crazy reign,” wrote another. “They shouldn’t give credit to the same names. The clue asked for a name in the title of the poem. Highland is not in the title.”
“Based on today’s FJ decision, if the clue is about the fruit in the title of a Steinbeck novel and I write ‘What’s a Grape?’, I think that’s acceptable,” added another.

Dorey took to Reddit to reflect on her “Jeopardy”! the answer.
“I’m sure for the longest 10 seconds of my life I was trying to figure out if I should put an ‘s’ at the end of Final,” he explained. “I didn’t know this poem so I had the same debate I’m having – ‘Highlands’ was the place but the phrase ‘Highland Lass’ stuck in my head – did Burns have a poem ‘To the Highland Lass’ (it turns out that the word comes from the poem of Wordsworth, so swing and miss) I thought that with FJ, they can’t ask me to be very specific, so it’s very little and I’ll leave the judges to decide, this time I’m lucky they don’t have to stop and give an answer as you saw so they must have expected it that’s the answer.”
“All in all, what an amazing game – I think for the whole second half of DJ my eyes were going back and forth between the score and the board – living and dying one by one back and forth,” he added.
