Ali Larter ‘Never Believed’ He Was Leaving Hollywood for Idaho
Ali Larter never thought he’d end up living in Idaho after spending most of his life in Hollywood.
“It happened in a very surprising way for us,” the Landman the star, 48, revealed about herself and her husband Hayes MacArthurnew life in idaho in the latest issue of Us Weekly. If you had told me this 20 years ago, even five years ago, I would not have believed that I would be living in a very small town in the mountains.”
He continues: “We love you so much, and we are so grateful for raising our family here. It’s really nice to live a little life with our children in this chapter.”
Larter explains that the idea came about during the COVID-19 crisis when MacArthur’s children’s schools were closed. (The couple, who married in 2009, are parents to son Theodore, 13, and daughter Vivienne, 9.)
“It was just chaos. And Hayes and I decided to just take the trip and see where it took us,” he recalls. “We drove to the mountains thinking we could see the children [while they continued] Bring the school closer.”
As the family explored the area, they fell in love with the nature of the area.
“We love being here and coming back for the seasons,” she said, “Aspen [trees] they’re bright and yellow right now, and looking at that is my favorite time of the year.”
Before moving to Idaho, Larter grew up in New Jersey and lived in New York City for ten years before calling Hollywood home for over 20 years. She always considered herself a city girl, she says, but after seeing what small town life could offer her and her family, she decided to “come around.”
“I always thought I would live in one of these big cities. I loved my time in those places, but I feel that we didn’t know that life was available to us,” he admitted. “Even if you talked five years ago, Hayes and I thought we had to be in Los Angeles to be an actor. We weren’t in this place where we were like movie stars, and we couldn’t go live anywhere.”
Larter was ultimately proven right as he continued to do while putting down family roots in Idaho. He is currently acting Taylor Sheridannew series Landmanpremiering on Paramount+ on Sunday, November 17. In addition to Larter playing Angela, the cast also includes Billy Bob Thorton, Demi Moore again Jon Hamm.
“This was a difficult process for me to act. “I had to audition three times and audition,” Larter said of the process of getting the role. “So I had to fight to find Angela.”
Larter adds that while trying to find the best way to flesh out her character, Sheridan would make changes to the script as she developed Angela’s personality.
“From the beginning I saw him writing about this woman, I knew she was just a firecracker and an emotional hurricane,” he joked. “And then I had to put him together.”
