Democratic Colorado governor praises Trump for appointing RFK Jr. as HHS secretary
Democratic Colorado Governor Jared Polis praised President-elect Trump for appointing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be the next secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.
In a lengthy social media post Thursday, Polis praised Kennedy for helping Colorado “win the vaccine mandate” in 2019 amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“He helped us defeat vaccination mandates in Colorado in 2019 and will help make America healthy again by shaking up HHS and the FDA,” he wrote.
“I hope he will rely on self-choice in vaccination instead of prohibition (which I think is bad, like being mandated) but what I have high hopes for is taking over big pharma and the ag oligopoly to improve our health,” said Polis. .
RFK JR. ASKS AMERICANS TO REVISE NEW TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S POLICIES: ‘THE SECOND TEAM IS YOURS’
Trump announced his nomination of RFK Jr. as the HHS secretary on Thursday afternoon, a firestorm of praise and criticism erupted.
In his announcement, Trump promised that, with Kennedy leading HHS, the agency would be restored as “Gold Standard Scientific Research.”
“For too long, the American people have been oppressed by industrial food and drug companies that have engaged in deception, lies, and disinformation when it comes to Public Health,” Trump wrote. “Mr. Kennedy will return these Agencies to the traditions of Gold Standard Scientific Research, and the lights of Transparency, to end the epidemic of chronic disease, and to make America Great and Healthy Again!”
Kennedy launched his presidential campaign as a Democrat and ended up endorsing Trump.
Kennedy also spoke during Trump’s historic rally at Madison Square Garden last month, where he addressed the current state of the Democratic Party.
“The Democratic Party is a war party. The CIA party. You had Kamala Harris give a speech at the Democratic convention written by the neocons. There was war, lust. It talked about the domination of the world by the United States with our weapons of war. It is the party today that wants to divide the American people. A group that destroys women’s sports by letting men play women’s sports,” he said.
TRUMP’S CHOICES SO FAR: HERE’S WHO TO ADVISE THE NEW PRESIDENT
“The Wall Street party. Bill Gates’ party, who just gave Harris $50 million. It’s a party, and the Harris campaign is very proud to have the endorsements of 50 former CIA agents and officials and John Bolton . and Dick Cheney.”
This is not the first time that Kennedy has been considered for a Cabinet position instead of the presidential administration. Back in 2008, then-President Obama reportedly strongly considered naming Kennedy to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, Politico reported at the time.
Polis has been critical of Trump’s presidency. He recently met with Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker to co-chair a new organization called Governors Safeguarding Democracy.
The website names “disinformation campaigns” and “cyberthreats” as examples of “threats to our democracy.”
“Donald Trump will bring people into his administration who are completely loyal to his religion of humanity and not to the law,” Pritzker said, according to the report. New York Times. “Lastly, he didn’t really know who the government officials were. I think he might know now. So I think the threat is still great.”
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Polis said of Trump, “we will work with him and his administration however we can deal with our country.”
Polis echoed his sentiments, writing to X that he looks forward to “working with him to make America healthy again.”
