Inside Bronny’s ‘Special Treatment’ at Lakers

It’s no secret that Bronny James is treated differently than other players, but one NBA insider thinks the Lakers’ new plan for him is ‘dangerous’.

Bronny made his G League debut for the South Bay Lakers over the weekend, recording six points, three rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a blocked shot on 2-of-9 shooting including 0-of-4 in the three-point range. in 31 minutes of playing time – the most time in the NBA so far.

The team explained that he will move from the Lakers to the G League team regularly, but with a special plan that ESPN insider Brian Windhorst is not a big fan of.

“He will only play home games for the South Bay Lakers,” said Windhorst, via The Hoop Collective. “He’s going to be a part-time player in the G League, and he’s not going to be on United Airlines flying to these road games. I know you get special treatment and discrimination. That’s right; honestly, i don’t care. Like I said, it’s normal. Now, I think it actually hurts him. I don’t like that. I don’t know whose idea it was, but apparently, the Lakers are fine with it—they do. In this instance, I think that’s gone too far, and I don’t think it’s in Bronny’s best interest. I don’t think it’s going to be good for the South Bay Lakers, and I don’t think it’s going to be good for LeBron right now.”

Everyone has their own opinion about LeBron’s son, and former NBA player Gilbert Arenas thinks the biggest problem Bronny faces is his lack of hostility.

“I like the bones of what it can be. I just think that the problem with Bronny’s game, the biggest problem, is that he has no aggression. And if you’re not looking to score, it’s a problem, right? It’s like the Ben Simmons case,” Arenas said.

“If you want to pass, you miss everything. If you’re very aggressive—like, ‘I’m looking to score; you stop me, and I pass’—but when you’re sitting here trying to pass and the rim is here, it’s a tough game,” Gil continued his assessment of the younger James’ game.
