In May 2024, CNN released footage of Diddy assaulting Cassie in 2016 inside the hallway of the now-closed Intercontinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. In the video, Cassie can be seen leaving the hotel room and heading towards a bank of elevators before Diddy, holding a towel around his waist, runs down the hall after her. He is then seen grabbing her by the back of the neck and throwing her to the ground.
The attack continues as Diddy turns around and kicks Cassie several times as she lies motionless on the floor, before briefly dragging her by her shirt into the bedroom before finally leaving. It is not clear how a copy of the video managed to remain undetected until it was obtained by CNN. According to federal prosecutors, they “were unable to find any video of the attack,” and investigators were unable to find footage of the 2016 hotel attack until CNN aired the video of Diddy’s attack.

Federal prosecutors say the Intercontinental Hotel’s server was wiped during their investigation, giving them little hope of finding the video of Diddy’s attack. In November 2023, Cassie sued Diddy in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, alleging that her ex-boyfriend had violent and disruptive demands, resulting in a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking.
