Arkansas Gov Sarah Sanders will not join the Trump administration

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that she will not leave the governor’s mansion to join President-elect Donald Trump in Washington, DC.

“I have already announced my bid for re-election and I look forward to serving in this position for the next six years,” Sanders told reporters when asked if he might rejoin the White House. “Unfortunately, and hopefully, you guys are stuck around for a while.”

Sanders served as the 31st White House press secretary for two years during Trump’s first term. She left the White House in 2019 and ran a successful campaign for governor in 2021 with Trump’s endorsement, becoming the Natural State’s first female governor. He is also the youngest governor currently serving in the United States.

Sanders campaigned for Trump’s re-election in 2024 and appeared at many of his rallies. His father, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, was recently named as Trump’s nominee to be the US ambassador to Israel.

“The only member of my family that will go into administration is my father,” Sanders said Tuesday.

Trump announced Huckabee’s appointment as US ambassador to Israel on Tuesday in a statement that called the former governor “Greatly Respected.”

“Mike has been a great public servant, Governor, and Leader in Faith for many years. He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work hard to bring peace to the Middle East,” said Trump.

Responding to his nomination, Sanders said he was “incredibly proud” to hear that his father had been nominated for Trump’s administration.

“I went to Israel for the first time with my father when I was eleven and it changed my life. him,” he sent to X. “I love you dad!”
