Early Live-Action Movie From South Park Creators Is Too Controversial To Broadcast

Written by Robert Scucci | Updated

I think it’s not meant to be a “superhero sex comedy,” or, as I like to call it, the “action sex” genre is for a niche audience, and for good reason. But you have to give it to a young Trey Parker and Matt Stone for trying to leave their mark on this weird genre in the 1997s. Orgazmowhich had made its limited theatrical rounds just before South Park became the intellectual property most known for it. Marking Parker’s second feature-length effort, Orgazmo the production value jumps and comes before his first film, Cannibals! music, but Orgazmo it was always meant to be a cult classic that was difficult to track down via streaming due to its controversial subject matter and execution.

At least during Orgazmo release, I’ve never seen a movie rated NC-17 that wouldn’t be hidden behind a beaded curtain in a video store, only to be accessed by the most deviant moviegoers. Ironically, Parker and Stone were quite astute in their introspection, which makes the film admirable by today’s standards. However, the rating was approved by the MPAA due to its use of sexually suggestive props despite the fact that Orgazmo it has less nudity to it than 2016 Deadpool if my math is correct.

Innocent Mormon Turned Sex Star

Orgazmo 1997

Orgazmo it doesn’t tell a complex story, but its premise is unique enough in the sense that there aren’t many movies that start with an innocent missionary with scary martial arts skills recruited by a dirty movie king to portray a porn hero. , which leads to kidnapping, gang violence, fraud, and a literal gun that depresses people to the point of, how do I put it… extreme arousal and liberation.

Trey Parker’s Joe Young is a young man who doesn’t know anything about his whole life ahead of him, and he doesn’t want to get into trouble when he agrees to work for Maxxx Orbison (Michael Dean Jacobs) on a fictional crime-fighting gig called Orgazmo, but he agrees to act in his film because he wants to give his fiancee, Lisa ( Robyn Lynn Raab), her dream wedding. Taking the job in defiance of his faith, Joe finds himself signing a contract immediately, but under the condition that a stunt double participates in his place during the dirty scenes, which morally allows him to act in a dirty, dirty movie.

The Downside Of Success

Orgazmo 1997

Thinking that his performance in Orgazmo will be just one gig that will give him a life-changing amount of money, Joe is locked into a permanent contract with Maxxx after the film’s success. Unlike his Orgazmo co-star Choda Boy, Ben Chapelski ( Dian Bachar of They are in netball again Electric apricot fame), Joe wants out of the industry, but his hand is forced by Maxxx, who looks at the world with greedy eyes. Fortunately, Ben only works in porn because he likes pleasure, and he reveals to Joe that he’s the MIT student who created a real-life version of Orgazmo’s weapon, the Orgazmorator.

Armed with his new weapon of arousal, Joe and Ben learn how deep Maxx Orbison’s corruption runs when Lisa is kidnapped by Joe’s refusal to fulfill his contract. It’s up to both Joe and Ben to take out Maxxx and rescue Lisa, while Dave the Photographer (Matt Stone) remains blissfully unaware of his whereabouts despite the obvious tension. Now running the mean streets of Los Angeles as the real-life Orgazmo and Choda Boy, they need to take out Maxxx and his bad guy, A-Cup (David Dunn), and save the city from certain destruction.

Must be Rated R

Orgazmo 1997

Orgazmos The NC-17 rating seems cruel looking back on the film from today, but I can understand why reviewers wanted to err on the side of caution with this film. Back then, Trey Parker and Matt Stone didn’t have nearly as much traction or resources as they do today, and sometimes you have to take your lumps while trying to find your place in the film industry.

But I will say this: their introspection adds a layer of humor to it Orgazmo that raises laughter to the point of absurdity. Whenever the wife lifts her shirt to shoot the scene at Maxx’s sound station, it’s never fully exposed, but the man’s bare rear end takes the shot, which is still dangerous but much safer than full frontal nudity. Say what you want about the T-Rex love-making sequence that I’ll leave to your imagination if you’ve never had the pleasure of watching. Orgazmobut still, he sees more sensual facial expressions than anything else.

At the time of writing this, Orgazmo it’s not available for streaming, but I recently saw it making its rounds on Tubi before it was removed from the platform. For now, you can watch Orgazmo on demand with Amazon Prime Video, Google Play Movies, Apple TV+, and Fandango Home.
