There is nothing much in this joke, but it touches our collective desires; the need to remember both Bowie and the quiet joy of days gone by. And if you love this musical legend and are itching for nostalgia, here’s good news: his legendary classic. The Labyrinth now streaming for free on Tubi.
Labyrinth On Tubi
Those who come out The Labyrinth for the first time on Tubi you are sure to be enchanted by this tale of a teenage girl who really loves a book of universal dreams called. The Labyrinth. When his half-brother, who is supposed to look after the child, becomes very angry, he makes the mistake of wishing that the goblins he’s been learning about come and take the little tyke. When the real goblins arrive and actually run away with the child, their Lord gives the youngster just 13 hours to solve the titular labyrinth, or his brother he thought was so evil will be turned into a fearsome goblin forever.
The Labyrinth has the kind of amazing cast you might not normally associate with Tubi movies, including Shelley Thompson (best known for her role as Trailer Park Boys) as a stubborn teenage stepmother. The teenager, on the other hand, is played by ’80s icon Jennifer Connelly, an Academy Award-winning actress who has starred in similarly gritty films. The Need for a Dream again Good Idea and popular fare Top shot: Maverick. But for many, the the original The star of the show is music icon David Bowie, who stars as Jareth the Goblin King and includes upbeat songs clearly written for the film.
More Jim Henson dolls
One of the reasons is that The Labyrinth it has so few actors on screen that the movie resembles a popular TV show Farscape (and currently streaming on Tubi), full of colorful creatures designed by Jim Henson. In fact, the Muppet master directed the film, and Star Wars guru George Lucas served as executive producer. Their combined genre expertise helped bring this fantasy world to stunning life, and it’s a special testament to Henson’s skills that all of these creatures and their effects have held up decades after the release of this 1986 film.
While The Labyrinth it impressed the audience on Tubi, it did not create the same when it was released, especially compared to its budget. The film ended up grossing $34 million against a $25 million budget, and although technically profitable, this was considered a very poor box office, especially for a film with the weight of both Henson and Lucas behind it. Fortunately, the movie later found great success on home video, and has become a legendary filmmaking staple for film professionals who love sorcery more than swords.

It may have taken the general audience a long time to adjust The Labyrinthbut the film quickly panned the critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a critical rating of 77 percent, with critics generally praising the movie’s beautiful visuals and the unparalleled imagination of director Jim Henson. The film also has an impressive 86 percent audience rating on Popcornmeter, proving that this is one fantasy film that has successfully cast its spell on almost everyone who has seen it.
