MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell gave President Biden a lot of credit for his accomplishments while in office, including signing a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.
“Listen, I said you’re never going to get an infrastructure bill,” O’Donnell told Biden in the final interview of his presidency released Thursday. “In my legal experience, since I worked in the Senate, I didn’t see how it happened with this small, small majority of the Senate in history. Until today, it looks like an amazing trick to me, how he pulled that out.”
Biden’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed into law on November 15, 2021, directs billions of dollars to environmental projects, including advancing clean energy through public transportation and cleaning up the environment.

“Well, look, the argument I made to the congressmen [and] The leaders who have gone down, how can you lead the world without having the most modern infrastructure in the world?” said Biden.
“He has combined domestic and foreign policy in a way I’ve never heard of any other president,” O’Donnell told Biden.
“Well, because it’s necessary,” replied the president. “There’s no way to implement our foreign policy unless, in terms of our economic policy, we’re in a strong position to do it. Look, Lawrence, you’re one of the most knowledgeable people I know. I’m not asking you to — well, I shouldn’t say that and it hurts your reputation,” Biden said.
“What’s going on? I don’t mean to dominate,” he continued. “I mean to lead the world with basic, basic principles like the UN charter, those kinds of – who steps up, who has the power to do that? We have the size, we have the scope, we have the ability, we have the technological power. But we have to get back to the game and that’s all I’ve done.

O’Donnell has been a staunch supporter of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in the media, even criticizing reporters for being too harsh on White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
