Former NFL player discusses why Deion Sanders should stay in college
After completely turning around the University of Colorado football program, there seems to be some smoke about Deion Sanders possibly moving to the NFL.
The Dallas Cowboys reached out to Sanders, who all but declined the offer — but, he admitted, it was “surprising.”
Sanders himself said he would consider coaching in the NFL if it meant continuing to coach his sons. Shedeur has a chance to be a top pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

But even if the idea of family continuity sounds appealing, one NFL big man says he’d like to see Sanders stay in college, for a very good reason.
Simply put, Vince Wilfork thinks college kids need Coach Prime more than professional athletes.
“He’s very useful in college, because he can touch a lot of kids,” Wilfork said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital. “Everybody has a dream, but without looking inside, he can touch more lives if it’s important than having a guy who makes millions of dollars and you can’t reach him. They can reach that point with his leadership.
“What he stands for can help those little boys a lot. I’d rather see him helping children, because they need them more than these young men who make millions of dollars. I just see him as a trailblazer at this level.”

Sanders’ first coaching gig came with Jackson State, and when he got the Colorado job, several players followed, including his sons and Travis Hunter, who was the Heisman Trophy winner this season as the player of the year. Hunter, too, is slated to be a top-five pick, as is his quarterback.
When Hunter won the Heisman, he shared a long hug with his coach, crying on his shoulder.
