Majority of Americans rate Biden as ‘failed’ or ‘right’ president: new poll
With less than a week left until President Biden’s death in the White House, a new national poll shows that most Americans don’t think history will be kind to him.
According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released on Tuesday, 44% of voters nationally say that history will judge Biden as a failed president, while another 27% say that he will be judged as a just president.
21 percent of those asked said that history will consider Biden as a good president, while only 5% said that he will be seen as a great president.
The president’s one term in the White House ends next Monday, Jan. 20, as President-elect Donald Trump is inaugurated as Biden’s successor.
MOST AMERICANS SAY THIS IS HOW THEY WILL VIEW BIDEN’S PRESIDENCY
However, according to the survey, 44% also say that Trump will be seen as a failed president.
One in five says that Trump, who starts his second term next week, will be seen as a great president, while 19% say that it is good and 27% say that he will be judged as a fair president.
Trump finished his first term in office with negative approval ratings, including a 47% approval rating in Fox News polls from four years ago.

However, speculation about Trump’s first term has risen in polls since his November presidential election victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. The vice president replaced Biden in July as the Democrats’ 2024 general manager after the president dropped out of the race following a nasty debate against Trump.
According to a USA Today/Suffolk poll, 52% of those polled said they approved of the job Trump did during his first term in office, while 45% gave him a thumbs up.
Suffolk University Political Research Center director David Paleologos noted that the change over the past four years was particularly significant among independent voters.
“Donald Trump ended his worst popularity between December 2020 and today among independents,” Paleologos said. “Trump went from a minus 22 (35% negative ‒ 57% negative) to a paltry 5 (42% positive ‒ 47% negative)” among the group that often swings the election.

Looking ahead, 31% said they were happy that Trump is returning to the White House, and 18% said they were satisfied. However, 12% said they were depressed and 31% feared a second Trump presidency.
According to the survey, 43% say they approve of the work done by Biden as president as he leaves office, while 54% do not approve.
Biden’s approval rating plummeted to the mid-50s during his first six months in the White House. However, the president’s numbers began to deteriorate in August 2021 after Biden’s handling of the crisis was heavily criticized. The US is withdrawing from Afghanistan and following an increase in cases of COVID-19 that summer, especially in the unvaccinated population.
The decline in the president’s approval rating was also fueled by inflation – which began to rise in the summer of 2021 and remains a major problem in the pocketbook of Americans – and an increase in migrants trying to cross into the US the southern border and Mexico.
Biden’s approval ratings went under water in the fall of 2021 and never recovered.

According to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll, nearly a quarter of respondents were undecided when asked to name Biden’s biggest accomplishment as president. Nineteen percent say investing in infrastructure. Ten percent said fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, which was the top health and economic problem for Americans when Biden took office four years ago.
Regarding his biggest failure as president, slightly more than three in ten pointed to Biden’s handing over immigrants, while 20% gave the chaotic withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021.
The poll polled 1,000 registered voters across the country by telephone. Made on Jan. 7-1, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 points.
