Biden Admin criticizes ‘waiting’ to declare genocide in Sudan
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The Biden administration has been criticized by the incoming Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho., for “waiting” until the outgoing President has only 13 days in office before declaring a coup. actions in Sudan, a country divided by 21 months of heavy war, “genocide.”
Earlier this week, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that members of Sudan’s rebel group, the Rapid Support Forces or RSF, had committed “genocide in Sudan.”
In a statement, Blinken said, “The United States is committed to holding accountable those who commit these atrocities. We are punishing RSF leader Mohammad Hamdan Daglo Mousa, known as Hemedti, for his role in systematic atrocities against the Sudanese people.”
BIDEN-HARRIS ADMIN ACCUSED OF ‘TOO LITTLE, TOO MUCH, TOO MUCH’ TO SAVE THE PEOPLE OF WAR-TOWN, STARVING SUDAN.
Blinken made his decisions, he said, because “RSF and RSF-affiliated militias have continued to attack civilians, systematically kill men and boys—even infants—by ethnicity, and (have) deliberately targeted women and girls from certain ethnic groups for rape and other forms of brutal sexual violence.” .”
The Secretary continued, “Those soldiers targeted fleeing civilians, killed innocent people fleeing the war, and prevented the remaining civilians from receiving life-saving supplies.”
Blinken added that the African nation is suffering from “an unrelenting brutal conflict that has caused the world’s greatest disaster, leaving 638,000 Sudanese people facing the worst famine in Sudan’s recent history, more than 30 million people in need of aid, and tens of thousands of people.” thousands died.”
Risch pointed out that the situation in Sudan has been a crisis for more than a year, and questioned the timing of Blinken’s announcement. In a statement earlier this week, he wrote, “It’s been almost a year since I introduced a resolution calling the atrocities in Sudan what they are: genocide. Additionally, I first called for Global Magnitsky sanctions against RSF and Hemedti 263 days ago – yet these sanctions they have not been reached.”

Risch spoke to Fox News Digital, announcing, “The Biden Administration is waiting until it has less than two weeks in office to condemn companies connected to RSF. and Hemedti for their crimes and calling the atrocities in Sudan genocide. “
Risch said, “This indifference to the Sudanese problem made America’s power stronger in the region and in the world over the years. If the Biden Administration backed up its rhetoric with action, Sudan would be in a better situation today, many lives would be saved, and foreign agents who are fueling this conflict would be kept at bay.”
Risch added, “This war must end. Continued instability in Sudan will only breed terrorism and regional unrest, which threatens global security. The US and our allies must seek to end the killings and violence, end the atrocities committed by proxies, control the migration pressures from the country. mass migration and protect strategic interests such as the Red Sea corridor.”
UAE, OTHER COUNTRIES HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM MONEY TRANSFER WATCH LIST
In his announcement, Blinken announced the new sanctions saying, “We have also sanctioned seven RSF companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and one individual for their role in purchasing weapons for the RSF.”
The Ministry of Finance also sent a statement, almost simultaneously from the Government, saying that “RSF’s ability to acquire military equipment and make money continues to fuel conflicts in Sudan.” The Treasury said a company in the UAE, owned by a Sudanese citizen “provided money and weapons to the RSF.”
Some of the UAE companies sanctioned this past week were accused by the Ministry of Finance of managing funds, saying they are “an important part of RSF’s efforts to finance its operations”, and importing IT and security equipment.
One gold company in the UAE has been sanctioned because it allegedly “bought gold from Sudan, possibly for the benefit of the RSF, and transported it to Dubai.” Additionally, the Treasury stated that “RSF’s director of procurement and the brother of RSF leader Hemedti maintained access to a bank account (of a gold company) in the UAE, which held millions of dollars.”
“The United States continues to call for an end to this conflict that puts innocent lives at risk,” said Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo. “The Ministry of Finance remains committed to using all available tools to hold accountable those responsible for violating the rights of Sudanese people.”
In response to questions from Fox News Digital involving UAE registered companies an official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dismissed, he said. “The UAE is very focused on Sudan in dealing with the crisis. We continue to call for an end to the fighting and a peaceful resolution to this human-caused conflict. In this regard, the UAE has already made it clear that it does not provide any support or resources to either of the two warring factions in Sudan.”
