Jalen Hurts of the Eagles says he does not remember the incident of the collision, in the middle of a bad year due to a brain injury.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has cleared the concussion protocol.

His first game back from the conference will be Sunday’s Wild Card game against the Green Bay Packers.

Hurts told reporters on Friday that he did not remember what happened shortly after he was stricken with the disease.

“It’s been so long, I don’t really remember,” Hurts said, when asked “What happened then?” when he tried to return to the field after a concussion. The incident happened in the first half against the Washington Commanders in Week 16.

Hurts says he’s never returned from a conference before, and opened up about how the experience interfered with his regular work.

“I’m out of a routine, you’re going through a daily routine, and to be out of that is challenging, obviously I’m dealing with different symptoms, and it’s not fun,” Hurts said.

Hurts credited his faith for coming through this experience.

“I have faith, everything is going well,” said Hurts.

Hurts is the latest quarterback to suffer a traumatic brain injury in a horrific football season.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion — the third of his NFL career — in a shaky season opener against the Buffalo Bills, in a nationally televised game. Tagovailoa has dealt with a number of problems in the past few weeks of the 2022 season. The third part of his career sparked controversy across the country, as some former players and media commentators called for him to retire.

Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Trevor Lawrence suffered a concussion when he was illegally hit by Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during a game in early December. The hit ended Lawrence’s season, as Al-Shaair was suspended for three games and was heavily criticized by the public and even an NFL official.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave suffered a concussion after being hit by Panthers safety Xavier Woods in Week 9 and had to be carted off the field. A week later, Falcons linebacker JD Bertrand suffered one in week 10.

Alabama A&M University football player Medrick Burnett Jr. has died after suffering a severe head injury in a game in late November.

At the high school and youth levels, more young players will die in 2024 from brain injuries.

At Alabama, Morgan Academy junior quarterback Caden Tellier received the award head injury during the third quarter of his team’s 30-22 victory against Southern Academy in Selma, Alabama, in late August.

Just days after that, a 13-year-old boy in West Virginia died after suffering head injury in middle school football practice. Eighth-grader Cohen Craddock, who played defensive line at Madison Middle School in Madison, suffered severe bleeding and swelling on the brain after the fight.
