UKA orders 80 Nordex wind turbines for German projects

Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen (UKA), a German wind and solar park developer, has placed an order with Nordex Group for 80 turbines from the Delta4000 series.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The order, which aims to power various wind power projects across Germany, will contribute a total capacity of 540MW.

Nordex is set to supply turbines for 15 UKA wind power projects spread across six German states.

The bulk of the order includes 64 units of the latest N175/6.X turbine model.

Additionally, the contract includes an order for 13 N163/6.X turbines and three N149/5.X engines.

In addition, Nordex is contracted to provide twenty-year service for these turbines under a premium service agreement when the wind farms become operational in 2026.

UKA Group managing director Stefan Kath said: “This order increases the capacity of the projects UKA currently has in the construction phase with Nordex in Germany to a total of 1,070MW. This is a sign of confidence in the quality of Nordex’s products and management.”

Nordex said one of the most important orders within the deal involves the Herzberg-Granzin wind farm in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The project will have nine N175/6.X wind turbines alongside three N149/5.X wind turbines, contributing to a total capacity of 78MW at this site alone.

The N175/6.X turbines, which represent an integral part of the system, will be mounted on composite concrete towers, designed in-house by Nordex and standing at a height of 179m.

The UKA order is an extension of the framework agreement between UKA and Nordex which was renewed in November 2023.

Nordex Group central regional vice president Karsten Brüggemann said: “The success of the energy transition in Germany is not only the result of good technology but also of long-term relationships between all involved.

“The new wind farms will also support the way to obtain energy independently in the province. After all, wind is a domestic source of energy in Germany and is not a rare commodity that has to be imported.”

In January last year, Nordex received orders from UKA totaling 197.1MW for seven wind projects in the regions including Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein and North Rhine-Westphalia.

“UKA orders 80 Nordex wind turbines for German projects” was originally published by Power Technology, a subsidiary of GlobalData.
