Trump files emergency appeal to Supreme Court to block NY v. Trump
President Trump on Wednesday morning presented emergency appeals to the Supreme Court in the United States trying to block his conviction in New York v Trump.
Judge Juan Merchan imposed the sentence in New York v. Trump on Jan. 10, after a jury found the president-elect guilty of falsifying business records in the first degree, stemming from an investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump denied all charges and appealed the decision, but it was dismissed last week by Merchan.
NEW YORK JUDGE SETS TRUMP DAYS BEFORE INAUGURATION
“President Trump’s legal team has filed an emergency petition with the United States Supreme Court, asking the Court to correct the unjust actions of the New York courts and halt the illegal execution of the Manhattan Witch Hunt,” said Trump’s spokesman and White House communications director Steven. Cheung told Fox News Digital. “The Supreme Court’s historic decision on immunity, the Constitution, and the legal precedent that this baseless fraud must be overturned immediately.”
Cheung said “The American people elected President Trump with a mandate that requires an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and all Witch Hunters.”
He continued: “We look forward to uniting our country in a new government as President Trump makes America great again.”
