Cornell fakes a wild punt that ends in a 74-yard touchdown vs. Penn, starting to score amazing goals

Even on the football field, Cornell is very smart.

Cornell was leading Penn, 14-7, late in the first quarter in a battle of Ivy League schools when it reached deep into its bag of tricks.

From its own 26-yard line, Cornell faced 4th and 8, and went into punt formation. Then, Cornell shocked almost everyone.

Instead of snapping it to the punter, the long snapper lobbed the ball to defensive back Robert Tucker.

The punter pretends the snap is going over his head to add to the play.

Tucker found a hole in the line and got the first down easily. Then, he only had two men to beat, and there was a blocker in front, the others were young.

Tucker tripped one linebacker while a blocker softened up another, allowing Tucker to scamper 74 yards for a touchdown to make it a 21-7 Cornell lead.

Penn then outscored Cornell 60-28 the rest of the game.

After a punt before Cornell’s dramatic punt, Penn scored on its final 10 drives, eight of which ended in touchdowns. During that time, Cornell threw three costly interceptions.
