Meghan Markle is bringing back social media in 2025

Meghan Markle ushered in the new year by welcoming thousands of fans and followers to her revamped Instagram page.

The Duchess of Sussex gave a rare glimpse into her private life in a short and sweet video shared on social media on Jan. 1.

Markle, 43, has not worked on the photo and video sharing site since 2020, when she and Prince Harry announced their decision to step back from their royal duties.

Markle posted a 30-second clip on Wednesday morning to mark the first day of the new year.

She wore a long, white linen shirt with white pants as she jogged down the beach near her home in Montecito, California, in a video shot by Prince Harry, according to People magazine.

No caption was needed for the post, as he drew “2025” in the sand before giggling as he ran through the frame.

Over time, the Duchess of Sussex has gathered more than 400,000 followers on her Instagram account.

Initially, after marriage, Markle and Harry were part of the Instagram account @KensingtonRoyal, which included Prince William and Kate Middleton.

On their one year anniversary, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched their @SussexRoyal account, which was discontinued in 2020 when the couple abdicated royal duties and moved to California.

In an interview with “The Cut” published in 2022, Markle teased the possibility of returning to the online platform.

“Do you want to know a secret? I’m coming back … on Instagram,” he said at the time.

Prince Harry recently addressed speculation about his marriage after rumors emerged of the pair appearing separately at events.

“There are topics left and right about, you know, why do you do, do independent events? Why don’t you do them together?” director Andrew Ross Sorkin asked during the New York Times Dealbook Summit 2024 at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Prince Harry replied, “Because you invited me, you should have known. You should have known this was going to happen.”

When Sorkin asked if it was “a good thing” that there was so much interest in the couple, Harry admitted that it was “not a good thing at all,” citing rumors he had heard about him and his wife.

“It looks like we have bought or moved houses 10, 12 times,” he said. “Obviously we’ve been divorced maybe 10, 12 more times. So it’s like, what?’

He added, “It’s hard to keep up with it, but that’s why you ignore it. The people I regret the most are the trolls,” he said. “Their hopes are built and built, and it’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,’ and then it doesn’t happen. So I feel sorry for them. Really, I do.”
