The phrase “Tom Cruise movie” has some connotations. When you hear that, you probably think of things like the Mission: Impossible films that feature him as a hero who saves the day with a series of deadly stunts. However, in one memorable moment, the legendary actor starred as an attractive yet intimidating citizen, and the world of high-octane thrillers has never been the same. We are talking about Michael Mann’s classic Securityand if you want to see Tom Cruise like you’ve never seen him before, now you can stream this movie on Netflix.

A Hitman Thriller Unlike Any Other

Security a film that revolves around two characters: a free-spirited taxi driver who dreams of starting his own limousine business and a brainiac who needs a ride. The two are locked in a strange night that goes from murder to conspiracy and back again, gaining a greater understanding of what makes the other tick. This eventually leads to a cat and mouse game where only one bloody victor will emerge.

This Tom Cruise movie has a lot going for it, and it’s worth streaming this title on Netflix just to see this classic silver screen hero play a really cool gangster. His victim-turned-victim is played by Jamie Foxx, and his sizzling chemistry with Cruise forms the beating heart of this unlikely athlete. Some of the main characters in the Security including Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Javier Bardem, and Jason Statham.

In addition to all the talent on the screen, there is a titanic talent behind the camera that breathes life into this neo-noir nightmare. Assisted by Michael Mann, the visionary director behind the Miami Vice the show and the movie and other classic movies like The heat again Ali. He’s something of an acquired taste, but Mann’s brand creates a dynamic vibe and style, and once you watch this overlooked Tom Cruise classic on Netflix, you’ll instantly understand Mann’s whole deal (and possibly start binge-watching his other modern masterpieces).

When we talk about modern works of art, Security it quickly won over moviegoers: against a budget of $65 million, the film earned a healthy $220.2 million. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a critical rating of 86 percent, with critics generally praising Mann’s instantly recognizable cinematography and Tom Cruise’s incredible heel turn as the villain (seriously, his performance alone is worth streaming this on Netflix). Audiences were right along with critics, and the Popcornmeter rating for this is 84 percent.

In addition to critical and commercial success, Security it also took home top awards and was nominated for more…it won the British Academy Film Award for Best Cinematography and the AFI Award for Top Ten Films. Additionally, Tom Cruise was nominated for Best Villain at the MTV Movie Awards and received a Saturn Award for Best Actor (the film was also nominated for Best Director, Best Writer, and Best Action or Adventure Film). As for Jamie Foxx, his performance earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
