The Biden administration on Friday said it would stop selling materials slated to be used to build a border wall ahead of the incoming Trump administration, which has promised to roll back tough efforts to combat illegal immigration.
The Biden administration has confirmed in court that it will comply with a court order barring it from scrapping other items for the border wall in the next 30 days, allowing President-elect Trump to use those items, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said.
The Biden administration has been selling parts of the border wall since at least 2023, with parts listed for auction, after abruptly halting construction of most of the wall in 2021.

President-elect Donald Trump then urged the Biden administration to stop. Fox News Digital reached out to Trump representatives.
“We successfully blocked the Biden Administration from scrapping more of the border wall before President Trump took office,” Paxton said.
“This follows our major victory forcing Biden to build a wall, and we will hold his administration accountable for illegally undermining our Nation’s border security until their last day in office, especially when their actions are motivated by a desire to stop President-elect Trump’s immigration agenda,” add.

In a press release, Paxton’s office said that if the Biden administration disposes of the border wall materials purchased with the money in accordance with the order in violation of the court order, “it would be unlawful and permissible conduct and officials could be held in contempt of court.”
Texas said intends to do everything possible to help the incoming administration build a wall on the southern border when Trump takes office.
The Biden administration abruptly ended construction of the border wall in January 2021 after 450 miles were built in the first Trump administration. While hawks say the wall is an important tool to stop illegal immigration, some Democrats say the wall project discriminates against immigrants and is ineffective.

The sale of parts of the border wall began in 2023 with parts listed for sale on GovPlanet.com, an online auction marketplace. A Department of Defense agency told the media that the excess equipment had been converted for use by the Army Corps of Engineers and was now being sold.
Those auctions have continued, with officials in Arizona telling Fox News Digital that auctions have been happening every week for a long time. The practice drew attention last week when the Daily Wire published a video showing unused sections of the wall being transported by flatbed trucks to Arizona, or the materials could be used by the next Trump administration.
Trump previously called Biden’s efforts a sellout unused materials for the boundary wall with a reduced rate of “probably a criminal act.”
Trump said the auctions would cost taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars to repurchase large steel balls and concrete. He asked President Biden to “please stop selling the wall” and suggested that his team would get a restraining order to stop the sale.

What they are doing is really an act, almost a criminal act,” he said. “They know we’re going to use it and if we don’t have it, we’re going to have to rebuild it, and it’s going to cost twice what it cost years ago, and that’s hundreds of millions of dollars because you’re talking about a lot of wall.”
