Will The Way Home Season 3 Address Alice, Nick’s Age Gap Romance?

The Way Home make viewers fall in love with the unattainable love of Alice and Nick, but will this fictional couple return to each other despite the age gap caused by the passage of time?

During a special interview with Us Weekly, Sadie Laflamme-Snow happy with how Alice and Nick communicate (Samuel Braun) in 1994 helped him develop his character, saying, “Oh my heart. I love Alice and Nick’s story line. It’s an anchor point for me playing Alice. It was another first time to see him open up.”

Laflamme-Snow, 25, recalled how it took Alice to prove herself to others. “He was really going through a difficult time in the beginning. So we start to see her singing at Nick’s request on the beach in front of all these strangers, you start to see her young and vulnerable,” he said. “It’s very beautiful.”

Despite feeling the chemistry between young Alice and Nick, Laflamme-Snow was still overwhelmed by the overwhelming support of fans.

“I didn’t know people would stick around like this. But it was almost as if, over time, people became more attached to their relationships and became lovers beyond the stars,” he noted. “We saw them at a local event [in season 1] they were in candy and saw each other through the glass. It’s like when they got too far apart, people wanted them to get together.”

The Way Homewhich premiered in 2023, introduces three generations of women in the Landry family who stumble upon a pond on their property that allows them to travel through time. Alice was the first to discover this, which led to her going back in time to when her mother, Kat (Cyler Leigh), was his age. That paved the way for Alice to find love with young Kat (Alex Hook) and young Elliot (David Webster) childhood friend, Nick.

“For Nick to finally find out that Alice was gone in season 2, it was obviously a very disturbing thing for them to be able to normalize in the present day,” Laflamme-Snow said. Us about how season 2 introduces an older Nick, played by Kerry James. “Yes, I love that story and I can go back there anytime.”

Laflamme-Snow isn’t sure how The Way Home it would make Nick a part of Alice’s future.

“Alice needs to be in a place to focus on her future and we see that with Noah [Alexander Eling],” he added about his character’s new love interest. “When he has a problem with someone in his family – all this is revealed over time – which is a set of unusual circumstances. [With Noah] he could be just a teenager. It’s something he really needs.”

The actress isn’t pulling any punches from Nick — even if it’s in adult form. “We’ll see how Alice and Nick can handle it today,” he teased. “Kerry James – who plays Nick – is so much fun to work with. It’s funny to see them acting like they don’t know each other but also being forced in a small town to always bump into each other. It was handled well.”

Laflamme-Snow costs Cyler Leigh again Evan Williams how he highlighted The Way Home managed to address the romantic age gap “without making it even weirder” for the audience.

“One of the things that feels so perfect about this show is that we are always investigating the question, ‘Is it better to try to change the past or to change our relationship with the past?’ That allows us to exist in the future,” explained Williams, 39 Us. “We see the audience and all the characters – in their own ways – grappling with that question.”

He continued: “Obviously, there are things that the heart wants, but we also see the actors moving around in that. One of the things that is true about the show is that we see the characters don’t always get what they think they want.”

While discussing the success of the show over the past three seasons, the three expressed their gratitude for the support of the fans.

“There’s an interesting combination where our show airs on Friday nights so it’s like watching an appointment. It’s not spread all at once so people can’t eat it. They have to wait a week,” said Williams. “So they will do everything they think about everything. But previous episodes and previous seasons are available via live streaming. So it’s a combination of both appointment viewing and streaming. We get a lot of both worlds.”

The Way Home airs on Hallmark Channel Fridays at 9 pm ET. New episodes are also available to stream on Hallmark+ and Peacock the next day.
