Mini golf? Andrew Novak said he started slow. He lost to the players and felt better than them. But, in the end, he changed things.
In college? At first, nothing too crazy, Novak said. Then he settled down. Then he played well.
And the benefits? No win in year one on the Korn Ferry Tour, no win in year two. Then it’s the victory in the third year. He moved to the PGA Tour. In the 2021-22 PGA Tour season, he missed more cuts than he made. In the 2022-23 season, he posted two top-10s. Last year, he had five, including a runner-up finish.
Do you see a pattern? Novak does it. Start, relax, succeed. Start, relax, succeed. Start, relax, succeed. Knowing that he has taken the third step before gives him hope that he can do it again, maybe just on Saturday, when he will start the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open with the lead.
“For me, it was a small project to be comfortable at this level,” said Novak. “I definitely feel more comfortable here. I know these golf courses now and I think that has helped.”
