Raducanu Revives Training Search as Cavaday Sidesteps

Nick Cavaday he has left his position as Raducanu’s coach to spend time at home and recover fully.

Cavaday, who was Raducanu’s youth coach who has known him since he was 10 years old, announced his decision in a statement.
“Right now, it’s important for me to spend more time at home and prioritize getting back to full health, which is difficult to do with a busy calendar,” Cavaday said in a statement. “I’m glad Emma’s back. establishment on the trip now.”
Reuniting with Cavaday after ankle and wrist surgery in the spring of 2023, the 22-year-old Briton delivered a bounce-back season last year.
2021 US Open champion Raducanu reached the Wimbledon round of 16 and the quarterfinals in Washington, DC and Seoul in his final four tournaments of the 2024 season to finish last season ranked No. 58.
“I would like to thank Nick for his good cooperation during the last year at least, especially after the surgery,” said Raducanu. “I wish him all the best in his next chapter and no doubt we will be in touch.”
The 150th-ranked Briton made history as the first player—male or female—to qualify for and capture a Grand Slam singles title at the 2021 US Open.
That dramatic victory at Flushing Meadows accelerated Raducanu’s learning curve and, he said, exposed him to the “sharks” of the game.
Currently ranked No. 61, Raducanu advanced to the Australian Open third round last week.
A rejuvenated Swiatek went on an 11-match run to defeat Raducanu 6-1, 6-0 to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open for the fifth time.
Now, Raducanu will be looking for a seventh coach in his professional career after working with Cavaday, Nigel Sears, Andrew Richardson, Torben Beltz, Iain Bates and Sebastian Sacz.
