Philadelphia’s Democratic mayor responds to ridicule by mislabeling the Eagles during a speech
The Mayor of Philadelphia, Cherelle Parker, responded to the ridicule directed at her when she misused the name of her hometown Eagles during a speech on Sunday.
During the team’s final game celebration song, the Democratic mayor attempted to sing the fans’ signature song to define the team’s name. However, he wrote it as “ELGSES.”

Parker addressed the mistake at a press conference on Tuesday.
“We don’t promise perfection, I’m very happy that I never had it,” Parker told reporters. “Especially after I couldn’t spell the Eagles well.”

The Democrat’s misspelling has already been turned into a t-shirt by the Philadelphia-based independent sporting goods business “Philly Goat.”

Parker is serving her first term as mayor of the city after winning the mayoral election in 2023, becoming the first female mayor in the city’s history when she lost. Republican Joe Rockey.
Parker served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2005-15, then served on the Philadelphia city council from 2015-22.
The Eagles will face their rival Washington Commanders in Philadelphia on Sunday in the NFC Championship game for the right to advance to the Super Bowl.
