The ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has no regrets about leaving Hollywood for Utah on the heights of fame

It’s been almost three years since “Dancing with the Stars” pro Lindsay Arnold announced her exit, and she doesn’t regret it one bit.

In a new interview, the professional dancer who starred on the dance competition series for 10 seasons, opened up about her decision to leave the show when she found great fame and success.

“A lot of my priorities and where I wanted to spend my time … just changed,” she told People magazine. “My mindset changed. Time goes 10 times faster when you have kids, and I just know that this time is so precious and something you don’t get back.”

“I wanted to have a sense of satisfaction during the program knowing, ‘Okay, if we have kids and I don’t come back, do I feel like I accomplished what I hope to do?’ I felt that when I was there, maybe we had passed the point where we were ready.”

Arnold, who lives with her two daughters, Sage, 4, and June, almost 2, with her husband Samuel Cusick, said the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles didn’t appeal to her.

“To be honest, I never liked or accepted Hollywood in the sense of where I wanted to live,” she said. “I liked everything about what it offered me, what I could do in my career, what I was able to do there, but really I was always a professional that, during the seasons, [who] I was going to sneak back to Utah to be with my family. That’s when I knew I wanted to raise my family.”

“Growing up in Utah, the city life was never for me,” he added. “But like I said, I know my life wouldn’t be where it is without that time, so I’m very grateful.”

These days, Arnold continues to gain traction on social media, from his fitness classes to his lifestyle vlogs.

“When I made the decision to leave ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ I didn’t have this grand plan of, ‘Okay, this is my job. This is where we’re going.’ “I just knew that I wanted to do things that were true to me, but that can be very scary because you don’t know how that will be received,” she said about having an impact.

“At the time I had a social media following of people who only watched and followed me because of ‘Dancing with the Stars. That scared me, because I can say, they will just hate me if I say, ‘Sorry, guys, I don’t do that anymore, maybe people hate mothers. But it’s been great because every step of the way, being really myself, sharing what I’m doing, has naturally changed my work and my involvement, my community in a better way.”

Although Arnold said he still misses the show, he has no regrets about his decision to leave.

“There are many things I remember about this program,” he said. “I miss all my friends in this program. The community, the family, it’s true. The second my sister entered the program, they treated her like a little sister because she’s a family.”

“What I don’t miss is full dedication. If you want to do well in your job, if you want to do well, it’s a 24/7 job,” he continued. “And when you’re a mom, that’s a 24/7 job, so that battle is really tough.”

“It feels like a natural progression for me, which I’m thankful for because, of course, there were always times when I chose to walk away from that first season like, ‘Am I going to regret this?’ he said. “I’m very happy to say that I’ve never regretted my decisions,” he added.
