Tyrrell Hatton overtakes Daniel Hillier to win the Dubai Desert Classic
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — England’s Tyrrell Hatton held off New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier to win the Dubai Desert Classic by a stroke on Sunday.
Overnight leader Hillier birdied the final putt to put the pressure on his playing partner but Hatton held on to hole his par putt from seven feet and secure victory.
Hatton shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish 15 under overall to lead Hillier (71) and fellow Englishman Laurie Canter (68) into third place, one back.
Rory McIlroy (66), who was seeking a third consecutive title in this tournament, finished fourth at 12 under Niklas Norgaard (66) of Denmark.
