Trump’s return to office creates hope for hostages
Ronen and Orna Neutra, whose son Omer was killed by Hamas, joined ‘Fox & Friends Weekend’ to discuss the cease-fire agreement and Hamas’ proposed release of hostages when President-elect Donald Trump returned to office.
As President-elect Donald Trump prepares for his return to the White House, the long-awaited Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement is unfolding — giving hope to the families of the hostages, despite admitting it’s “a deal with the devil.”
“Before President Trump was elected, of course [the deal] he’s stuck,” Ronen Neutra, whose son Omer was killed by Hamas terrorists, told Fox News on Sunday.
“Let’s face it, the fact that President Trump had a clear message, ‘With my inauguration, I want to see the hostages come out, or there will be hell to pay,’ has had a huge impact on the Middle East, and we are. I hope that with his leadership, we will see all 98 hostages come out since today with three female hostages.”
“We know their family, and we are very emotional about this and very happy to see them out,” he said.

Trump promised “all hell to pay” if the remaining Hamas hostages were not released on the day of his inauguration in a Truth Social post last year. The message gave a glimmer of hope to the families of some hostages, including one who called the message “the very kind of language we were missing.”
Ronen and Orna’s son with his wife Omer, an IDF commander and an American from Long Island, New Yorkwho was once thought to be one of the hostages of Hamas, was recently determined to have been killed by the terrorist group on October 7, 2023.
His parents, who have been outspoken about their demands for the hostages’ safe return, plan to attend Trump’s inauguration in Washington, DC, on Monday.
Prior to this event, female hostages Doron Steinbrecher, Romi Gonen and Emily Damari were released in the first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement on Sunday.
Orna Neutra responded to the outing during a special pre-opening broadcast Sunday of “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
“We have become one family, all the families of the hostages. We have been dealing with this kind of emotions for 15 months, and we have heard a lot about these ladies. We are very close to them. families, and we are very happy and look forward to meeting them and hopefully seeing them rehabilitated and moving on with their lives,” he said.
Additional hostage releases are expected to come with a second phase.

The Palestinians are similarly celebrating the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
“This is a deal with the devil,” said Ronen Neutra. “These people, terrorists, killed 1,200 people in one day – the worst day in the history of Israel since the Holocaust, and they killed, in that time, 45 Americans, so, it’s very bad to see them celebrating right now, but you know. What we celebrate is because we believe in the dignity of death, and we believe that all souls are important, and we will be fighting for them, and we will bring back all 98 people and the leadership of President Trump.”
“We trust him. We know he will,” he added. “We know that he will push all his allies in the region, in the Middle East, to ensure that those 98 return – among them, our son. We must bring our son to a proper burial. He deserves it.”
