Netanyahu says the ceasefire will not start until Israel receives a list of hostages to be released
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assessed the security situation regarding the delay in receiving a list of hostages expected to be released on Sunday morning as part of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
Netanyahu told the Israel Defense Forces that the ceasefire would not begin until Israel had a list of hostages expected to be released. Since Hamas has not named the hostages, the IDF will continue to operate, as it continues to strike inside Gaza.
The deal was due to take effect on Sunday at 8:30 am local time, and Hamas said it would provide a list of hostages. But the ceasefire remains in place as Israel waits for the release of the hostage list.
Hamas said the delay in delivering the names was due to “technical reasons” and added that it was committed to the ceasefire agreement announced last week.

The Israeli Cabinet approved an agreement early Saturday for a cease-fire in Gaza that will include the release of many hostages and an end to the war with Hamas that began after the terrorist group’s attack on October 7, 2023, in the Jewish State.
The deal will allow 33 hostages to be released in the next six weeks, in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel. The remaining hostages are scheduled to be released in a second phase that will be discussed in the first phase.
Hamas agreed to release three female hostages on the first day of the deal, four on the seventh day and the remaining 26 over the next five weeks.

Hamas has said it will not release the remaining hostages without a cease-fire and a full withdrawal from Israel.
This is the second ceasefire during the war.
Gaza is expected to receive emergency aid when the ceasefire begins.

15 months long war in Gaza it started when Hamas launched a surprise attack against Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 others were kidnapped, prompting military retaliation from the Israeli forces. About 100 hostages are still being held in Gaza.
More than 46,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks, according to local health officials run by Hamas, who do not distinguish between civilians and terrorists.
