The twins signed the left Anthony Misiewicz to a minor league contract, reports Darren Wolfson of SKOR North. Misiewicz will receive an invitation to Minnesota’s Major League spring camp.
A veteran of each of the past five MLB seasons, Misiewicz extended that success this past year when he appeared in one game (throwing one inning of relief) for the Yankees on June 19. He was immediately sent back to Triple-A after that. that cup of coffee at the show, and ended up being selected for assignment and pulled from the 40-man list in New York in September.
In addition to what was a full season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Misiewicz posted a 3.90 ERA with eight homers allowed over 55 1/3 innings of relief. That problem with the long ball masked strong peripherals like a 29% strikeout rate and a 7.6% walk rate. Misiewicz had a wide gap in his splits in Triple-A, as he dominated left-handed hitters while struggling against right-handed hitters.
Misiewicz has a 4.67 ERA over 115 2/3 career innings in the majors, with most of that work coming with the Mariners from 2020-22. He’ll give the Twins at least one more experienced arm to test in camp, and his chances of making the roster could be helped by Minnesota’s lack of depth in left field. Kody Funderburk and a minor league starter Brent Headrick they are currently the only left fielder on the Twins’ 40-man roster.
