Jason Kelce’s Kids Design Mascot for His Late Night ESPN Show
Jason KelceThe leading late night talk show is truly a family affair.
“The show, obviously, needs its own mascot,” Kelce, 37, said during the Saturday, January 18, episode of ESPN’s. They call it Night. “We went out to get a whole team of designers for the job.”
In the recorded segment, Jason and wife Kylie Kelce – an officer They call it Night announcer – asked their children to bring a mascot. Jason and Kylie, 32, share daughters Wyatt, 5, Ellie, 3, and Bennett, 23 months. (Kylie is also currently pregnant with baby No. 4, another girl.)
Before the younger Kelces started working on their ideas, Jason tested them on their knowledge.
“Do you know what a mask is? Who is the Eagles mascot?” she asked, and Ellie pointed right at Swoop. (Jason played center for the Philadelphia Eagles throughout his NFL career before retiring in March 2024.)
“We need to make our own version of Swoop,” Jason said. “And I thought it would be fun if we all designed it together.”
Wyatt, Ellie and Bennett then went to work coloring potential mascots – complete with “drinkable” in hand.
“I think we have a mascot, girls,” Jason said later. “We’ve got Wyatt’s face, Ellie’s body and we’ve got the ‘pizza hand’ you drew here. [and] ‘chicken legs.’ This is our mascot. “
Wyatt and Ellie chose to name their mascot “Dragon McFart-Fart Butt-Butt.”
“Okay, sound like you’re Irish?” Jason laughed in response, later bringing the finished painting to the ESPN studio.
Speaking to the live audience, he suggested the girls “nailed” the artwork.
“I think Ellie was looking for a face too, but she got a body,” Jason said. “I really don’t know how [Kylie] I got Bennie to draw anything. I never got Bennie to draw anything. “
According to Kylie, Bennett contributed an “accidental text” that turned out to be legs. The drawing was the inspiration for a mascot costume worn by one of Jason’s co-stars throughout the broadcast.
“Hello, I’m Dragon McFart-Fart Butt-Butt. It’s great to be here,” the mascot shouted to Jason and Kylie’s amusement. “Thank you so much for making me girls.”
Jason, on the other hand, was amazed that his kids “nailed” the design.
“Well done! I don’t even know what to say,” he continued to ponder. “It’s great. … I really like this thing. It’s just amazingly perfect. I wish we could have it forever, it’s a shame we only had it for two weeks.”
Kelce’s They call it Night airs Saturdays at 1 a.m. ET during NFL playoff time, which wraps up in February with the 2025 Super Bowl.
