Young college basketball fan delays game after dramatic on-court rampage: ‘I don’t know who the kid is’
The game between the Radford Men’s basketball team and the Gardner-Webb team was delayed for a while Wednesday night when a teenage fan stormed the court and had to be escorted out by one of the Highlanders.
With just a minute left in the second half and Radford leading by three, a young fan suddenly entered the field and started running as the players and coaches looked on in confusion.

“And we have a child on the ground,” said the broadcasters of the game in shock. “The sixth man is down here. I don’t know whose child that is. Do we have parents?”

The young fan continued to run before Radford guard Truth Harris, a redshirt senior, stepped in and picked up the young child before handing him to an employee near the court.
Playing this did not disturb the Highlanders, who won the game 79-75 to improve to 3-1. Big South Conference play and tied for the top spot in the standings alongside High Point and UNC Asheville.
The Big South released a statement after the game about the “pint-sized” disturbance, adding that the child was safely reunited with his parents.

“In an unprecedented moment of jubilation, a young ‘fan’ stormed the field with one minute left in the thrilling Gardner-Webb vs. Radford game,” the statement said.
“The fan, estimated to be about three feet tall and just shy of kindergarten age, showed incredible skill as he dodged confused staff and players. Thanks to the quick thinking of a Radford player (and an obvious babysitter), the situation was safely resolved when the child was removed from the court.”

Radford coach, Darris Nichols, joked after the game that he urged the officials not to penalize the team because of the excitement of the young fans.

“It was a big part of the game,” he said with a laugh. “When the child ran to the court, I just told the lawyer, ‘Please don’t give me. technology of this.'”
