Israel’s security cabinet begins a meeting to discuss the ceasefire agreement
Israel’s security cabinet has begun consultations on a cease-fire agreement with Hamas involving the exchange of Palestinian prisoners, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
The meeting in Jerusalem started later than the scheduled date.
If the security cabinet gives the green light as expected, the government still has to approve the deal before it goes into effect.
The ceasefire is scheduled to begin at 12:15 pm (1015 GMT) on Sunday. Netanyahu’s office said it can start working as planned, as long as the security cabinet and the government agree.
The first hostages are expected to be released on Sunday. According to Israeli media, this will happen at 4 pm.
