Contract negotiations are a hot topic, especially when Barstool Sports celebrities are involved.

Hosts of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast. Is Compton again Taylor Lewan they are in the middle of negotiating a new deal with a media company and it may hurt their chances of winning Survival Barstool Season 4, once again raised questions about the future of former NFL stars at Barstool.

“Right now, the ‘Bussin’ With the Boys’ team is in negotiations to secure the next contract fund,” Compton said at the time. The former football player, who won season 3 in 2024, was voted out of the show right after his friend, Lewan.

“We won a quarter of a million dollars and then rolled a deuce again at the end of the year,” Compton continued. “So, my hat’s off. A tip of the cap. Dave, Big Cat, the big guys of the game.”

Compton, a former NFL linebacker, signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He joined the Tennessee Titans in 2018 for one year before signing with the New Orleans Saints in 2019 and later the Las Vegas Raiders. He returned to the Titans for a second time in 2020 before returning to the Raiders in late 2021. In September 2023, Compton announced his retirement from professional football.

Lewan, meanwhile, was drafted by the Titans in 2014 and stayed with the organization for the rest of his career, which ended in 2023 after sitting out the 2022 season with a knee injury.

Compton and Lewan launched a podcast on the Barstool Sports network in 2019.

How Much Money Do ‘Bussin’ With the Boys Podcast Hosts Make?

Compton talked about the deals he and Lewan made with Barstool during an April 2024 episode of the “Next Up With Adam” podcast.

“In the beginning, [Barstool said] we’ll go 50/50, you guys get the IP. We said no, but we’ll go 60/40 and the minute we cover $1 million it goes up to 70/30 [in] our kindness,” explained the former athlete. “They were riding with it, and I said, ‘F—, I think we—we played ourselves.'”

Their “second deal” with the company was deemed a “competing offer,” meaning they could not buy their show universally. Compton said he and Lewan have since developed a “profitable” relationship with Barstool.

“I, personally, wanted to resign from Barstool. I think they’re the best product for us at this point,” Compton said. “We end up staying at $3 million mg per year. We are consistent with that, every dollar is made after three million dollars.”

After Compton revealed that the “Bussin’ With the Boys” cast was in the midst of contract negotiations. Survival BarstoolBig Cat confirmed the former NFL star’s speculation.

“Dave and I didn’t want Taylor or Will to win $250,000 on Barstool Networks and then be like, ‘Oh, we’re going to compete with him,’ two seconds later,” Big Cat said in mid-January. 2025 episode of the competition series.

Portnoy spoke more about this in an episode of “The Unnamed Podcast” that month.

“During filming [Surviving Barstool] I thought we were going to wipe them out, but I went in, I knew they were checking,” commented the founder of Barstool Sports. “They had a proposal. They were like, ‘We’re going to look at the world, see what it is.’

Portnoy “didn’t want” to give one of them $250,000 from the game winnings and leave the company. When asked on the same episode of the podcast if Compton and Lewan were leaving the company, Portnoy played coy. “I’ll let them handle it the way they want to handle it,” he said.

“When we played that game, I thought they were going to go back to Barstool,” Portnoy said. (Survival Barstool filmed in September 2024. The contestants return for a live finale and reunion in January 2025.)

Compton revealed that “there are ongoing discussions” with the program.

“The future of ‘Bussin’ has nothing to do with this show,” Portnoy explained. To this day, episodes of the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast are still released under the Barstool name.
