DeSantis praises Florida’s ‘future thinking’, vows to help Trump govern

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis doubled down on his past criticism of California, praising the Sunshine State’s “future thinking” on “Hannity” Thursday.

“Seeing what happened in California shows the failure that we were talking about that night unfortunately exacerbated a terrible situation,” said DeSantis, speaking about his debate with Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2023. “They didn’t handle that well. The water sources or the forest are the managers. And it’s the ideas that go along with that.”

“That’s kind of a past way of thinking. Florida is a future way of thinking.”

California leaders have faced intense scrutiny since wildfires swept through the Golden State last week. However, criticism of the “leftist” regime is nothing new.

“You should probably try to screw up California. That’s what Gavin Newsom has done since he became governor,” DeSantis said during a Nov. 30 “Hannity” special. 2023. “The truth is that they failed because of his leftist views. .”

In the wake of the wildfires in Los Angeles, many have expressed concern about the policies of California’s Democratic leaders, including funding for first responders, especially as the incoming Trump administration prepares to take office.

DeSantis told Fox News host Sean Hannity that Americans will see “a stark difference between a state like Florida, which takes seriously its responsibility to uphold the law and wants to work constructively with the new administration, and a state like California, which is going to double down on failure.”

The official clearly points to entry and border security as a high point of comparison.

“When Donald Trump takes office, he’s going to be serious about the border and illegal immigration. California is a sanctuary state. THIS is a sanctuary city. They’re going to fight him every step of the way. They’re not going to cooperate. Florida…we’re not a sanctuary state and I ended my first year as governor.

DeSantis vowed that his state would “do our part” to support Trump’s agenda, urging other states to “step up” as well.

“We’re going to deal with the resources. There’s going to be a lot of things we’re going to be able to do to really make an impact. And I think you’re going to see some really big, really good changes very soon,” he said.

“We’ve been talking as Republicans for decades about illegal immigration at the border. Now is the time to put up or shut up. President Trump can’t do it alone. He needs Congress to support him, and he needs states to step up and step up their efforts.”
